The South African Twenty20 champions were forced to exit from the Champions League Twenty20 2011 after Trinidad and Tobago brought out Kevon Cooper in the end stages to ruin the work done by Dale Steyn and the Cape Cobras captain, Justin Kemp.

The Cape Cobras will be decided that for a second time, they have lost the opportunity to compete for the Champions League Twenty20 2011 trophy after their loss to the Trinidad and Tobago team put them out of the competition. They will feel even more gutted because they would have thought they stood a very good chance until Kevon Cooper turned what seemed like a tight situation for Trinidad and Tobago into a match winning one.

Dale Steyn bowled his heart out initially and yet for another match in this competition, he himself was guilty of conceding fifteen runs in the penultimate over to make the task much easier for the Trinidad and Tobago which is ironical given that in both matches the Cape Cobras seemed they had the match in control despite the odd lapse. This is what they will rue most to lose matches from seemingly winning positions.

The Cape Cobras made 137 after Dane Vilas and Owais Shah made sizeable contributions, Vilas with fifty-four and Owais Shah with sixty-three. And it did indeed seem tough for the Trinidad and Tobago with Dale Steyn bowling a tight spell and Justin Kemp himself coming in to bowl the quota of four overs conceding only twenty-two runs while picking up three wickets including the dangerous trio of Darren Bravo, Adrian Barath and Darren Ganga, the Trinidad and Tobago captain. To lose from such a position will not only hurt but that it cost them a place in the Champions League Twenty20 2011 semi final will make the Cape Cobras rue their opportunities despite boasting of a strong team.

The Cape Cobras will also consider the rained out match against the Mumbai Indians also one that did not get them a fair chance to compete because they had to then share points with the IPL team. While it is curtains for the Cape Cobras, Trinidad and Tobago will be crossing their fingers.
