DTotD: Camoranesi kicks downed opponent in the face
It’s probably been a little while since you last heard Mauro Camoranesi’s name. At 35, he’s still playing football, but he’s moved back to Argentina, where he now plays for Lanus and seems to be losing his mind.
In the first half of Lanus’ match against Racing Club on Wednesday, Camoranesi was shown a straight red for a poor challenge on Patricio Daniel Toranzo. Camoranesi was at first baffled by this, then decided that if he had to go, he might as well do something completely insane and kicked Toranzo in the face just as he was getting back up. Camoranesi was then pushed away and Toranzo dropped back down to the ground.
Once Toranzo recovered from that, he had a freakout of his own and also got sent off a result. Lanus got one more red card in the 59th minute and the match would eventually end in a 1-1 draw. Sad behavior from a 35-year-old World Cup winner.
